Program Description:

Program OverviewGEO_London

Building on a quarter-century of academic excellence, the London Centre offers multi-disciplinary courses in the liberal arts and humanities. Each course places an important emphasis on experiential learning, transforming the entire city of London into your classroom by incorporating several local outings and excursions. Courses take advantage of the world-class galleries and museums like the National Portrait Gallery, Tate Modern, the Cabinet War Rooms, the Churchill Museums and, of course, the British Museum, which is just a short walk from the GEO London Centre. Each term, students have the opportunity to experience London’s rich theater options, from the West End productions to smaller, fringe productions with big-name actors like Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Judi Dench and Sir Patrick Stewart, as well as younger stars like David Tennant and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Program Focus

Students typically enroll in three to five courses. All courses offered in London are recognized and approved for academic credit by various GEO partner institutions. Actual credit awarded is determined by the relevant department at your university in consultation with the study abroad office. Check with your study abroad advisor for more information.

London will serve as a classroom as much as the center itself, with visits to London’s exceptional museums, galleries, and the House of Commons. In addition, you will enjoy theater and concert productions often complemented by private talks with directors or prominent actors. Courses are taught by British faculty who have experience teaching US students as well as considerable practical experience in the related field they are teaching—including professional actors, artists and the founder of the European Policy Information Centre. Courses make use of a variety of materials and texts, all of which are included in the program fee.

Please click here to see a sample weekly schedule for the program - please note most students take 3-4 of the listed courses and all courses/times are subject to change.
