Immerse yourself in Irish university life by enrolling in courses at CIEE’s partner school - Dublin City University (DCU) – Ireland’s “University of Enterprise” for its focus on research and innovation. DCU is located just outside the city of Dublin and hosts five colleges: Science & Health, Humanities & Social Sciences, Engineering & Computing, DCU Business School, and DCU Institute of Education. Students can also select from CIEE elective courses taught by adjunct lecturers at CIEE Dublin, located on DCU’s All Hallows campus. All courses are complemented with CIEE co-curricular activities and excursions beyond the city to make your understanding of Ireland complete – and unforgettable.
With a young, vibrant population of more than one million people, Dublin is a city on the move and an emerging high-tech European hub. Still, the charm and culture of old Dublin shine through, and the echoes of literary giants like Joyce, Shaw, Swift, Wilde, and Beckett remain. Since the late 1990s, a multicultural Dublin has emerged with immigration from around the world. Today, the city is a dynamic, lively multicultural space between the jewel green landscape and the Irish Sea.
- Get to know Dublin with cultural activities such as guided walking tours, visits to museums, cathedrals, galleries, and historic sites.
- See more of Ireland with day trips that bring your coursework to life. Excursions could include visits to the Wicklow mountains of Glendalough, the medieval town of Kilkenny, or immersion into the farm life of rural Ireland.
- Engage in campus life by joining a campus society or club – from drama to travel, there’s something for everyone.
- Take advantage of the University’s state-of-the-art swimming complex.
This program is designed for students who want challenging courses in their major while living in and learning about Ireland. Students take courses at both Dublin City University (DCU) and CIEE Dublin.
Dublin City University (DCU) was established in the early 1980s and hosts 16,000 students, more than 20% of whom are international. Its multidisciplinary programs stimulate entrepreneurial awareness and activity through strong links with Dublin-based and international businesses. DCU features a modern campus located on 80+ acres just north of the city with central green areas, cafés, a theater, library, bookstore, banking facilities, and an active student union. Classes are held on the Glasnevin, St Patrick’s and All Hallows campuses and taught by DCU faculty.
CIEE Dublin is located on DCU’s All Hallows campus. CIEE courses are taught by adjunct lecturers.
