ALBA is in Barcelona, one of Europe's most dynamic, culturally diverse cities. Living and studying abroad with ALBA in Barcelona offers students the unique privilege of experiencing both Spanish and Catalan cultures as well as other surrounding European cultures. Barcelona has an incredibly interesting history spanning back to the Romans and its impressive, rich history, culture and medieval and Modernist architecture surround you at all times. Located right on the Mediterranean Sea and just 100 miles south of the Pyrenees Mountains that border with France, Barcelona is a just short journey to nearly every major European city for independent travel on weekends and before and/or after the ALBA program.
ALBA Study Abroad is ideal for undergraduate students of international business, finance, economics, Spanish language & culture, communications, political science, sociology, art, architecture, history and other liberal arts courses. Classes have many professor-led field trips and field studies components for maximized contextual learning. While Barcelona is a great place for Spanish language and culture immersion, Spanish language is not a requirement for the ALBA program and all elective courses (excepting Spanish language, of course) are taught in English by local professors at our private ALBA facilities.
Most students take two elective classes (five quarter credits each) and one Spanish language class (six quarter credits) for a total of 16 quarter credits although you may take up to a maximum of 21 quarter credits. Classes are held at the ALBA facilities in the Barrio Gótico, Monday to Thursday, leaving Fridays and weekends for independent travel and ALBA excursions (on Fridays. Optional and encouraged). ALBA is a smaller, more personalized program with a wide range of academics, professional and cultural opportunities and the flexibility to meet individual needs. All PSU sophomores, juniors and seniors are encouraged to apply.

*PSU Students receive an automatic tuition reduction of $3,000 for winter and/or spring term and a $2,000 automatic tuition reduction for fall. As of now the fall term program cost is listed as $1,000 less than the winter and spring terms, so all terms end up being the same price. However, summer has a $1,000 reduction and has a different price point than the regular academic year program terms.
