Program Description:

Program OverviewOUS Waseda Japan

From the Imperial Palace to the skyscrapers of Japan, Inc., Tokyo is home to more than 11 million people and a dynamic confluence of commerce, culture, and industry. Tucked among the city's thriving financial, industrial and entertainment districts are smaller neighborhoods with narrow streets, wooden houses, and handicraft shops, each with a flavor and history all its own. Though Tokyo is densely populated, it offers pockets of calm in beautiful parks and gardens, quiet residential streets, and tranquil temples and shrines.

Program Focus

The Japanese Language and International Liberal Studies program at Waseda University offers you the opportunity to improve your Japanese language ability while at the same time completing a range of English language-based coursework to fulfill required and elective credits at your home institution. In addition to intensive Japanese language classes, you can choose from a wide variety of courses taught in English, including regionally-focused courses in history, economics, literature, communications and political science as well as general courses in biology, mathematics and business.
