Program Description:

Program OverviewTokyo

Japan is often looked at as the future for many things, including design. It's a common destination for creatives all over the globe to go for inspiration. It's not that the role of design in Japan is any different seen elsewhere but it is approached with a very unique perspective that leaves every visitor with a new way of seeing.

Our group will spend 21 days in Japan visiting both contemporary and historical sites related to design and Japanese culture. We will visit both independent and corporate design studios, along with a variety of art and design institutions. The students will also have the opportunity to engage in workshops that will give them as taste of new and interesting ways of making.

During the trip we will visit 3 locations in Japan that will each provide a different view of Japanese Culture. From the modern streets of Tokyo, to the traditions of Kyoto and the charm of the Japanese countryside.
