Program Overview

Seoul

In the world of increased interdependence and globalization, the need for cross-culturally competent human and social service practice and administration has increased in recent years. The growing demand for recognition of the international dimension in curriculum has increased correspondingly. This Seoul Case Study focuses on the motivation, design and implementation of Seoul’s welfare strategies to become one of the top 10 globally competitive cities.

The purpose of this course is to examine and compare human and social services, administration, and leadership, using Seoul, the capital city of the Republic of Korea as a case example. This course is designed to better prepare students to offer culturally sensitive/responsive services. It is also expected for students to improve cross-cultural communication skills as a professional and through interpersonal interactions in groups and in society.
