Program Description:

Program Overview CIEE_Prague

With a rapidly evolving start-up scene and multiple well-established corporations, advertising agencies, NGOs, and English-speaking media outlets, Prague is the ideal place to explore global communication trends while learning about the city's rich culture and complex history. Combine studying at Prague's most prestigious university and CIEE’s partner schools, Charles University and the Academy of the Performing Arts (FAMU), with a hands-on internship to create a rich learning experience. Throughout your time, you’ll discover Prague's 1,000 years of magnificent art and architecture that will fill you with awe.

  • Go behind the scenes at radio stations and media companies to see communications and journalism in action.
  • Travel overnight to explore Czech media and culture beyond Prague.
  • Explore Prague Castle, Old Town, historic halls of Charles University, the theater, and opera.
  • Join a student group that sparks your interest, in art, community service, film, music, sport or theater, for example, and see how Czech students are similar and different from U.S. students.
  • Join a language exchange program.
  • Meet a Czech family.
  • Live in Prague like a Czech student, with a Czech flat buddy to show you around, explain local customs, and organize weekly activities in politics, sports, film, music, and more.
  • Volunteer at a children’s home or school, or put your communication skills to work on CIEE yearbook and blogs.

Internships

Gain international experience with valuable internships that require 8–10 onsite work hours per week. Students interview to be selected by the internship providers, take a related seminar (15 hours of class time) and attend meetings and other events with the program staff. You could intern at vibrant start-ups, advertising agencies, media outlets, think tanks, and other organizations. Do not miss the opportunity to boost your resume while studying abroad!
