Program Description:

Program OverviewCIEE Dublin Sum

Dublin is an ancient city that today is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing European capitals. With a young and vibrant population of over one million, it has enjoyed considerable economic growth in the last decade. While Dublin may be a city on the move, the charm, culture, and heritage of old Dublin is still apparent everywhere. It is perhaps the most literary city in the world with associations that include Joyce, Shaw, Swift, Wilde, and Beckett.

Program Focus

Dublin City University (DCU) was established in the early 1980s to meet the needs of Ireland’s rapidly growing economy. The University, with a student population of approximately 10,000, set out to provide students with highly relevant and often multi-disciplinary programs in order to create an environment that would stimulate entrepreneurial awareness and activity. Strong links with local and international businesses continue to maintain this environment. The three-week summer program at the CIEE Study Center in Dublin is designed to immerse students from a wide variety of disciplines in the history, culture, literature, and politics of modern Ireland.

Intercultural Comparative Experience

As part of the program students can travel with friends to a new city to explore history, art, architecture, culture, and social challenges. Part of every short-term program, our three-day Intercultural Comparative Experiences are an ideal way to highlight cultural differences and sharpen critical thinking skills.

Students can spend the intercultural weekend in one of these European cities:
Barcelona, Spain
Berlin, Germany
London, England
Paris, France
