Program Description:

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Norway
Join Professor David Ritchie in Norway to explore Metaphor, Humor and Play! This program includes attending a conference themed, "Metaphorical creativity in a multilingual world"  which assures a rich exposure to research and discussion of multiple world languages and their cultures.

Students will attend and report on sessions in which international students and scholars present and discuss their research. The biannual conference of the Association for Researching and Applying Metaphor (RaAM) will be held in June, 2020, at the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in Hamar, Norway (an hour by train from Oslo).  The conference will have several parallel tracks, each devoted to a particular topic in theory or application of metaphor research, each spanning 4 sessions per day over a four day period, plus plenary sessions featuring notable scholars in the field.  RaAM is international – most members live and teach in Europe, slightly fewer in the U.S., and a growing membership in Asian countries.  Many of the papers presented will be international in topic and scope.

Students will attend the conference and classes in Norway in addition to receiving access to additional cultural visits and activities.
